Karanam kettu vadi Sakhi,
Kadalan chidambara Nathan innam varada

Anupallavi

Purana dayavu ulla Ponnambala durai,
Yen porumayai shodhikka marai mukham anadan,

Charanam

Kallalum villlum katti aditheno,
Kannappan seidadai kanavinil seydheno,
Chella manikku thoodhu senru va a endreno,
Cheyyada kariyam Cheyya muyandreno.

English translation

Pallavi

Friend, Find out the reasons for my lover,
The Lord of Chidambaram not coming till now.

Anupallavi

Find out why the very ancient Lord of the Golden temple who is kind
Has done this vanishing, to test my patience

Charanam

Did I tie and beat him with stone and arrow?
Did I do what Kannappan did in his dream?
Did I send him as messenger to a house where he will not go?
Or did I do some acts which should not be done?
