Muruga Muruga Endru
By Ashok Madhav
Translated by P. R. Ramachander
Muruga muruga endru Koovi azhithal
Irangi vandu arul tharayo
Parugalaam undan dhaya madhura namathai
Arugaamal bhavappini irukka
Malai meethu vazhum murugaiyane
Mayil vaahana valli manaalane
Kal manamillaada Karunaa karane
Vel piddithu aalum bharani deivame
If I call you loudly "Muruga, Muruga",
Will you not be merciful and shower your grace?
We can drink your sweet merciful name,
So that the disease of birth and death does not come near me.
Oh Lord Muruga who lives on the mountain,
Oh Lord who rides on a peacock and is the consort of Valli,
Oh merciful one who does not have a stone like heart,
Oh God of Bharai who ruled holding a Vel.
